Kilmore Diocesan Youth Ministry commits itself to the welfare of all the young people of the diocese. It recognises and values the uniqueness and dignity of each young person. It cherishes their unique gifts in the service of the whole community. It desires to share the good news of the gospels and the liberating person of Jesus for young people, especially those on the margins of society. It acknowledges the different life circumstances and situation of young people. It promotes total development - spiritual, personal and social of each young person. This ministry to young people is entrusted to the local community.
As a way of implementing the above Mission Statement we encourage and support each parish as follows:
- Every parish/local community give priority to youth ministry and put it on the agenda of parish life.
- Youth ministry is the responsibility of all the parish/local community. It is important that a co-ordinating person or group be established to oversee the setting up and running of projects/events/activities and gathering of resources for the continued growth of young people.
- If possible the composition of the co-ordinating group be people who are already involved with youth and involved n faith development initiatives.
- This group spend time reflecting and resourcing themselves in youth ministry.
- The task of this co-ordinating group will be
- To understand young people
- To have some vision around what youth ministry could be in their parish/local community
- To write their own vision framework and implement it.
